Galesburg Man Posts Bail on Warren County Child Sex Charges
A 47-year-old Galesburg man has posted bail after being extradited to Warren County on a child sex charge first filed several years ago.

Warren County State's Attorney Chip Algren says Scott Sauter has posted 10-percent of $100,000 bond on a single charge of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. A Pre-Trial Conference is set for July 25th.

Algren says the charge was dismissed with a leave to reinstate in 2007 when the victim and victim's mother disappeared the night before trial. He says the Department of Children and Family Services recently informed his office both had returned to the Galesburg-area to live with Sauter. He was extradited from Knox County on Monday.

Algren says Sauter is married to the victim's mother, but is unsure if he fathered the girl he's accused of sexually assaulting. The victim is in protective custody with DCFS.

Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class-X Felony and is punishable by up to thirty years in prison.
