Goodwill to Reject Television Donations
Goodwill will no longer be accepting used televisions as donations or for recycling beginning next month.

Bob Parkhurst is the Vice President of Administrative Services at Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois. He tells WGIL eliminating TV's from their non-profit product line wasn't an easy decision.

"Our donors and our shoppers are so important to us, and we don't like to change things very often," But there have been a lot of changes in the regulatory market in Illinois and the salvage market that have just made it unfeasible for us to accept televisions any more."

"We still accept all other electronics-- computers, perhaps radios that you don't use anymore. All that kind of stuff we'll still take, just not televisions."

Parkhurst wouldn't elaborate on those changes in Illinois law, but did say the Peoria branch was facing financial constraints that wouldn't allow them to continue accepting TV's past August first.

After then, Galesburg residents are encouraged to bring their TV's to the Galesburg Transit Office on South Farnham Street. Galva's Eagle Enterprises is also an acceptable location for used TV's.
