Bar-b-q Restaurant Remains Open
The new bar-b-q restaurant in Galesburg will get to stay as-is for now, as it is in a sort-of transition phase.

Earlier this month, Good Stuff Bar-b-q at Main and Farnham Streets was issued a cease-and-desist letter by the city after a resident complained about the for-now outdoor restaurant. The restaurant appealed, and that was to be taken up at Tuesday night's Planing Commission Meeting.

But City Community Development Director Roy Parkin tells WGIL the appeal doesn't need to be heard now.

"They contacted us (and) indicated they are planning to move their operations inside-- the grilling part would still be outside, but their tables and all that would be inside," Parkin said. "They indicated to us they can have that done within thirty days, as such we've indicated they can continue operating there provided that they do get moved in in that 30-day time frame."

Parkin says he could have been steadfast in the order to get Good Stuff Bar-b-q to shut down until the indoor restaurant opens, but he'd much rather work with people like owner Tony Hume whenever possible.

He says because Good Stuff had plans and was working on implementing them, it was easier to tell them to operate as normal for now.
