Police Match Resale Shop Theft to Earlier Burglary Tools Arrests
There's apparently been a confession to one of two local burglaries discovered during the nine o'clock morning hour Tuesday.

Galesburg Police are connecting a break-in at the Purple Hanger Resale Shoppe to 21-year-old George Woods and 22-year-old Michael Watkins. The two Galesburg men were already in police custody, having been arrested for having a hammer and screw drivers near the Holiday Inn Express only several hours earlier.

Police say one of men charged confessed to throwing a brick through a Purple Hanger window and stealing cash from a donation vase. Reports show $20-dollars in all was taken, but the shattered window is estimated at $200-dollars.

Authorities have yet to crack a burglary at the Greenhouse, which police were made aware of not even an hour before the one at Purple Hanger. Police say $100-dollars in cash was stolen from the register overnight Monday. It's unclear whether Woods and Watkins are suspects.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate Theft and Burglary charges were brought against both men Wednesday, in addition to Possession of Burglary Tools. Public defenders were appointed, and Woods and Watkins will appear in court again next week.

The two are jailed on $50,000-dollars bond.
