'The Villas' Getting First Public View
The public will get it's first glimpse into the new $7.1 million dollar student housing development for Carl Sandburg College students Tuesday.

Property Manager for 'The Villas at CSC' Danielle Boulton tells WGIL she's already got a feel for how residents of the community college's ten-county district will react.

"Everyone's reaction, (those) that come in that maybe isn't a student or looking to live in the apartments, everyone's reaction is 'Oh my gosh, I wish these were around when I went to school," Boulton said Monday.

Tuesday's open house at 'The Villas' is from 4 to 6pm. The 144-bed, 60-unit apartment complex sits on the site of the former Regency Hotel on North Henderson Street.

Boulton says the student-based housing offers students an experience comparable with living in dorms or residence halls.

"They can still go to a community college, but still have that big, university atmosphere," she said. "They're living with a bunch of their peers. There's going to be activities going on all the time-- study groups, sand volleyball. Just the random things that occur when you're at college."

'The Villas' are currently booked at 90-percent capacity. Boulton says she plans to fill the remaining vacancies by August 10th's move-in date.
