Multiple Motor Accidents Follow Big Bang Boom
There's a reason why several hundred vehicles were stalled outside the area's largest fireworks display for over an hour Wednesday night.

Multiple motor vehicles were involved in two, possible three Galesburg Police say, separate accidents along North Lake Story Road and the surrounding areas following Big Bang Boom 2012. No accident reports were immediately available, but police do confirm one crash involved a motorcycle.

WGIL was on the scene for a four-car collision less than a mile east of Wednesday night's parking. Three vehicles, including a sports utility vehicle, were stranded along the eastbound lane-- with the third and final car's rear end almost entirely smashed in.

A pick-up truck was angled in the eastward direction also, but several feet ahead of the the trio of damaged vehicles-- and halfway in the westbound ditch. On-lookers on the scene admitted they feared the worst because the trailing vehicle had sustained such major damage. Several fire-trucks and ambulances were present.

A second motor accident involving multiple cars was reported further west from the parking lot on North Lake Story Road. Motorists waiting in traffic were eventually detoured in this direction to head home.

As more details become available, we will pass them along.
