Longtime Owner Bids Farewell to Local Pharmacy
The permanent closure of Turner Prescription yesterday sparked an assortment of feelings from the longtime store owner.

"Positive and negative, and scary, and all the nice things that the people have said about you," Jim Turner said. "And you've always try and do your best with taking care of them. And sometimes you weren't sure if you did, or if they appreciated it."

"And it's sometimes sad to finally get to the end, and say thanks."

Turner had difficulty describing his emotions Thursday afternoon-- only hours before his pharmacy shut its doors for good.

He cites his desire for retirement, but also blames the monopolizing of prescription industry giants as reasons for closing Turner. His small business has served the Galesburg community for over thirty-one years. Turner says it would have been thirty-two next month.

Turner says he prides himself on the pharmacy's customer service for all those years. An example-- the store's five employees would always answer the phones themselves without having to utilize a recording.

Walgreen's has bought Turner's records.
