Fire Not Cause of Mercer County Deaths
The fire that destroyed a rural Mercer County home and killed two people may have been a cover-up.

That's according to Mercer County Coroner Ron McNall. McNall told WHBF-TV in the Quad Cities on Sunday that the results of autopsies conducted Friday on 40-year old Patricia Lindquist and 53-year old Timothy Meade seemed to indicate that the two died from gunshot wounds.

McNall previously said that a gun is believed to have played a part in the crime, but told WHBF that neither Lindquist nor Meade had smoke in their lungs when they died, indicating that smoke inhalation couldn't have claimed their lives.

Lindquist, McNall says, had gunshot wounds that weren't apparent at first, but were discovered during the autopsy.

Crews from a number of agencies including area fire departments, the Mercer County Sheriffs Department, and the State Police crime scene technician reported to Lindquist's home on 200th Street in rural Aledo before four p-m Thursday.

Firefighters spent over six hours on the scene putting the blaze out.

A car missing from the scene was found in another county Friday.

No suspects are in custody, but police are asking that you call them or Mercer County CrimeStoppers if you have any information.
