City Council Tackles Capital Projects
One of the biggest parts of the City of Galesburg's budget every year will start to get some scrutiny from the Galesburg City Council Monday night.

Aldermen will hold their monthly work session Monday on the city's capital plan.

A large portion of the city's 90-million dollar annual budget is devoted to capital improvements.

And it's expected that work on the second of the city's three rail crossing grade separations will be a part of the plan in the 2013 fiscal year starting in January.

But quiet zone-related work will likely be in there as well, as will upgrades to roads and sidewalks.

Residents and some aldermen have long said that the city woefully under funds road and sidewalk improvements.

The Galesburg City Council work session starts at 5:30 Monday evening inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall, and like all their meetings, it's open to the public.
