Pellet Gun Use Leads to Weapons and Drugs Charges
Four Galesburg men are facing Unlawful Use of a Weapon charges from an incident involving some early morning target practice with a pellet gun.

Police say they responded to a weapons complaint at 461 West South Street Saturday at about 5:42am. Three of the four immediate suspects attempted to escape by climbing an apartment stairwell when they saw police. Records show one successfully fled through a window and onto the the home's roof.

They all were eventually subdued and arrested for firing a black marksman repeater pellet gun on the property. The firearm was located in a nearby trash can, and the suspects all denied ownership of it. Police say each of them blamed each other for the incident.

Arrested were 20-year-olds Tremaine Becton and Tyrell Stennis, as well as 23-year-olds Marvin McGowan and Greg Tucker. Tucker faces additional drug charges for twenty-six grams of suspected cannabis that was found in a backpack. Stennis is also facing drug charges for possessing a pipe and a small amount of alleged cannabis.

A fifth arrest to a 50-year-old Galesburg woman living at the West South Street residence was also made on a Failure to Appear Warrant.

The group is being detained at Knox County Jail. Court dates were not immediately available.
