Plea Delayed in Drug Case Against Former GPD Officer
A former Galesburg police lieutenant accused of taking alleged drugs from an evidence locker was scheduled to admit his guilt Thursday, but won't.

Knox County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bordner Thursday said that a plea in the case of David Hendricks has been postponed until October second. Hendricks had been scheduled to make a plea Thursday to charges of Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Official Misconduct, but Bordner says attorneys for both sides had agreed to the continuance.

Hendricks was arrested in March of last year, after allegedly being caught taking cocaine and methamphetamine from police evidence lockers in 2006. He resigned from the force later in 2006, and has since been deemed eligible for a drug treatment program.

Bordner said it would be the last continuance in the case.
