BREAKING NEWS: Arrest in Fatal Galesburg Shooting; Suspect Arrested
UPDATED: 11am 8/23/08 Galesburg Police say one man is dead and another has been arrested as the result of a shooting early Saturday at the location of a number of shootings the past several years.

Galesburg Police say 32-year old Marlon Brown was arrested Saturday morning on charges of Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Police say investigators, fire, and ambulance personnel were called to Andrews Lounge in the eight-hundred block of West Brooks Street just before 2:00am Saturday on a report of shots fired.

They say 29-year old Deriek Lawless of Chicago was receiving aid from patrons after being shot in the head. Police say Lawless was transported to Galesburg Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour later.

Investigators say they executed a search warrant at Brown's West Second Street home, which is believed to have led to his arrest.

Police say they continue to investigate the fatal shooting -- and ask anyone with information to call Galesburg Police at 343-9151, or the Galesburg-Area Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-888-266-0044 or 344-0044.

A shooting at Andrews Lounge in 2004 killed 34-year old Scott Glisan of Galesburg, and a shooting at the tavern occurred in February of this year, among others.
