Police Investigating Copper Theft
Galesburg Police say they're investigating the theft of what has become a hot commodity among some criminals.

Police say officers went to Dowers Roofing on South Henderson Street around 8:30 Friday morning, after managers there claim some three-hundred-pounds of copper and 50-pounds of aluminum were discovered to be missing from scrap piles at the business.

Mangers told police that employees of the business were in contact with a recycling business in Galva a few days earlier, who had reported that 302-pounds of copper had been brought into their facility to be cashed. Police don't have suspects in custody, but did gather a name of someone who might have committed the crime.

In the meantime, police reports indicate extra patrols are being provided in that area just in case.
