$1m Bond Set for Alleged Andrews Lounge Shooter
POSTED: 2:29pm 8/25/08 A Galesburg man accused of shooting and killing a Chicago man at a local bar Saturday morning has made his first court appearance.

32-year old Marlon Brown made a first appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Monday afternoon. He's been formally charged with three-counts of First-Degree Murder, and one-count each of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Brown allegedly shot 29-year old Deriek Lawless in the head at Andrews Lounge just before 2:00am Saturday. Galesburg Police say officers and rescue personnel responded to the West Brooks Street tavern to see patrons giving aid to Lawless. He was taken to Galesburg Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead about a half-hour after the alleged shooting.

Brown Monday asked for a Public Defender after telling the court he hasn't had time to talk to any sort of legal counsel.

Brown is being held in the Knox County Jail on $1 million bond and will be back in court Friday at 11:00am. He could face as much as 60-years in prison for each Murder count if convicted at trial.
