Spat Among Illinois Delegates at DNC
Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) isn't worried about a spat among Illinois Democrats in Denver this week. Delmarie Cobb, a delegate for U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), claims that Illinois Senate President Emil Jones (D-Chicago) called her an "Uncle Tom" for not supporting U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). Jones says he called her a "Doubting Thomas."

Madigan says it's not a big deal. "Democrats are Democrats," he said. "There are different people among Democrats. But as we move to the general election, we're all being to be brought together, and we're all going to working for the same direction, which is to change the direction of this country."

Madigan is pleased with Obama's choice of U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) as a running mate. "Good pick because of his experience, because of his chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee," Madigan said. "He's a long-time Washington person, and so he's going to understand as well as Barack, maybe a little better than Barack, how to move legislation through the Congress."
