Canadian Firm Adds Warehouse in Galesburg
A Canadian company says it will actually save some money by opening up an operation in Galesburg. The Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association says British Columbia-based Bradley Smokers has opened up a warehouse and distribution facility in Galesburg.

Bradley Smokers manufacturers items ranging from meat smokers to materials used in smoking and curing meat.

GREDA Vice President Linda Utsinger tells WGIL it has taken about two years to get Bradley Smokers here, but for good reason. "They were trying to identify either a building or a site, so we were able to put them together with some local contractors and engineers, and look at some different things like that," Utsinger said. "Once they pretty much decided on Galesburg, it was a matter of nailing some place down. But because they an international company, it took a little bit longer with all the documentation and the paperwork...for them to complete some transactions here."

Utsinger says Bradley Smokers has purchased property on Enterprise Avenue owned by Export Specialists that gives them 15,000 square feet of warehouse space, and another 5,000 square feet for office space. She says locating in Galesburg will help reduce the company's shipping time, given access to the railroad and the nearby airports in Peoria and the Quad Cities.

Utsinger says there are only three employees at Bradley Smokers now, but the company is already looking at expanding.
