Emergency Orders Filed in Case Against Accused Murderer
A pair of emergency orders have been filed in the case of a Galesburg man charged with shooting a Chicago man at a local bar a week ago.

32-year old Marlon Brown made his first appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Friday morning with Public Defender Jim Harrell.

Brown allegedly shot 29-year old Deriek Lawless in the head during some sort of dispute at Andrews Lounge on West Brooks Street early last Saturday morning.

Lawless was taken to a Galesburg hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Harrell Friday filed an emergency motion asking that evidence be preserved in the case, and an order that the prosecution not be allowed to talk to Brown without either his presence or permission.

Both were granted by Judge Steven Bordner.

Brown remains held in the Knox County Jail on $1 million bond on three-counts of first-degree murder, and several felony weapons-related counts, and will next be in court September 22nd for a preliminary hearing.
