Illinois Funeral for Fimmaker John Hughes
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- At a private funeral in the northern Chicago suburbs where he often set his movied, filmmaker John Hughes was remembered as a poet, a friend and a family man.

The invitation-only funeral Tuesday at Wenban Funeral home drew a handful of celebrities, such as actors Vince Vaughn, Ben Stein and Matthew Broderick, but most of the mourners were family members and neighbors.

A local TV crew kept its distance across the street.

The 59-year-old Hughes, who directed such movies as the "Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" died of a heart attack last week in New York.

Stein, who played Ferris Bueller's economics teacher, was one of the speakers at the service and called it "very touching."

Later, Hughes was laid to rest in a Lake Forest cemetery.
