Monmouth-Roseville Teachers Have New Contract
The teachers in the Monmouth-Roseville School District might just be luckier than their counterparts in Galesburg.

The Monmouth-Roseville School Board Tuesday night voted to ratify a new one-year contract with the Monmouth-Roseville Education Association -- this, following the union's ratification of the deal already.

District-238 Superintendent Paul Woehlke says negotiations took a lot of hours, but proved to be worthwhile.

"We had a very fruitful and productive negotiation process with the union this year. I kept the board apprised of the progress of that, and certainly the board members that were on the negotiating team are well aware as well of the process we went through and what we've achieved in the contract this year."

Woehlke says this is the first year the district's support staff will be a part of the M.R.E.A., and he says because of that, part of the negotiations centered around restructuring the salary schedule for all employees.

He says most staff will see a two-percent pay raise, but what, if any raise, depends on the employee.

The District-238 board Tuesday night also voted to continue an agreement with Maple City Cab Company to transport the district's special education students to Galesburg, where they will then board busses to other locations.
