State Fair Attendance Down
Lots of people visited the Illinois State Fair last weekend, but the attendance numbers dropped during the week. Fair manager Amy Bliefnick says first weekend attendance was up 6 percent over last year, but total attendance now is 15 to 18 percent lower than at this time last year. Bliefnick says the number dropped in part because of bad weather, and in part because so many schools opened earlier this year than last year.

She also points out that this year's numbers are being compared to last year, which saw a 25 percent increase in attendance.

Two big concerts are on the schedule this weekend: one with Montgomery Gentry, Kellie Pickler, James Otto, and Candy Coburn; the other with Heart and the Bangles. Bliefnick says those weekend concerts, plus other attractions, could boost the numbers.
