Mummy Exhibit Updated at Putnam Museum
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- Officials say an updated exhibit on Egyptian mummies is being unveiled at the Putnam Museum.

After years of work, museum officials say research shows the female mummy called Isis who was displayed in a coffin marked with that namesake is actually believed to be someone else.

Officials say the mummified woman inside the coffin is believed to have died more than 600 years after the coffin was created.

Putnam curator Christina Kastell says the new information significantly changes the "Unearthing Ancient Egypt" display at the museum. It cost more than $50,000 to update.

The exhibit opens Saturday. It includes new floors, new lighting and new mummy cases.

The research came after discoveries through CT scans two years ago at the Genesis Medical Center.
