Knoxville City Council Agrees to TIF Funds for Project Related to School Expansion
The Knoxville City Council fixed an ordinance that was approved at their last meeting, in order to help pay for permits and a water line tap that will be used at Mable Woolsey Elementary School.

The council Monday night approved a motion that would pay for the water tap, as well as a sewer and building permit after those services are completed during the school's expansion.

Last month the council approved a motion that a tap-on fee be waived since the expansion plans at Mable Woolsey would need a 6-inch water line tap and the Knoxville City Ordinance Book does not cover a tap of that size. Knoxville Alderman Ed Mahar told the rest of the council they needed to amend the prior motion.

The council approved the money that will be billed and paid for by the school, will then be billed to the council, and the council will then reimburse the school with money from the TIF fund. Mahar estimated an approximate cost of over $3,600 for the price of the permits and tap.

The streets committee will be talking about replacing the sidewalk that runs along Jensen Gym and the logistics of that project, including the severity of damage to the current sidewalk, how much it can cost and when it could be completed at a meeting early next week. The money to pay for at least half of that project may also use TIF funds.
