|Cottage Hospital Expands Pediatric Services
|Galesburg Cottage Hospital recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the hospital's new Close Supervision Unit for pediatric patients and surgical specialty patients.
The event was held in concert with the pediatricians from Pediatric and Adolescent Care Clinic, B.S. Kesavan, M.D., S.G. Paralikar, M.D., Frank J. Peppers, M.D., and Amy S Larson, M.D., Galesburg Cottage Hospital administration, GCH Board members and nursing staff members.
About the new unit, GCH CEO Ken Hutchenrider said, "This unit will allow parents to rest a little easier knowing their child is being cared for in a highly secured and constantly supervised hospital unit. It's also ideal for surgical patients needing round the clock supervision. The addition is in keeping with our continued mission at GCH of expanding hospital services to the Galesburg area."
The new unit is located on the second floor where the hospital's former Intensive Care Unit was located prior to January of 2006. The unit features six glass enclosed patient rooms enabling constant nursing observation making it ideal for both pediatric patients and specialty surgical patients. It is the only pediatric patient area available in a three county area of Western Illinois.
