Quinn Promises Action On U. Of Illinois Trustees
CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says he needs one more day before he reveals what he'll do about the University of Illinois' Board of Trustees.

Quinn says on Wednesday he'll detail his plans for the board and the two holdout trustees who have so far refused the governor's call to resign amid an admissions scandal at the school.

Quinn says he hopes trustees Frances Carroll and James Montgomery will step down before then because he thinks that's the best way to go.

The governor wouldn't say what he plans to do, but he promised to act ``with certainty and with dispatch.''

Quinn asked all nine university trustees to step down, following the recommendations of a panel he appointed to examine the influence of political clout on university admissions.

Seven have offered to resign, but Montgomery and Carroll say they've done nothing wrong.
