Politicians React to Quinn's Handling of U of I Clout Scandal
Not everyone is pleased with the way Gov. Pat Quinn handled two University of Illinois trustees who refused to resign in the wake of a clout admissions scandal.

Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) believes Quinn's approach is wrong. She says some of those trustees who resigned may have been treated unfairly. "The main thing is that this splotch on the university is not behind us, it's just continuing…to be controversial."

Quinn on Wednesday said he would not fire the trustees because of fear of a lengthy and costly legal battle.

When asked by reporters if she thought the governor should have fired the two holdout trustees, Radogno said she didn't thing the governor "thought it through first." She believes the governor's action has made the situation worse.

Quinn so far has appointed two trustees and plans to fill the rest of the vacancies by Sept. 10, the next board meeting.
