Galesburg Alderman Appointed to Orpheum Board
The Knox County Civic Center Authority has voted unanimously to appoint Galesburg Alderman Russell Fleming to the Orpheum Theatre's board of directors.

Fleming was voted in as an ex officio member during the Orpheum's annual meeting on Thursday (August 20).

"The Orpheum Theatre board is pleased to welcome Russell Fleming to the table," said CCA chair, Jan Occhi. "Not only does Mr. Fleming provide an objective conduit to the City Council, he also brings a wealth of financial oversight experience to the organization."

Fleming, who is serving his first term as alderman of Ward Three in Galesburg, is a retired Accountant Advanced for Hill Correctional Center. Prior to his work in the corrections field, Fleming was a tax auditor for the Treasury Department. He also taught accounting for Carl Sandburg College and is a U.S. Army veteran.

"The Orpheum Theatre is an icon of the Galesburg cityscape," said Fleming. "Not unlike the Stearman Fly-In or Knox College, the Orpheum Theatre is a unique attribute that brands and differentiates Galesburg from any other community in Illinois or even the nation. I am pleased to serve both the City and this private entity for the betterment of Galesburg."

The Orpheum Theatre's next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 3 p.m. in the First Bank conference room on Main Street.
