Galesburg Man Arrested on Multiple Meth-Related Charges
POSTED 9:56pm 8/7/09 A Galesburg man is in trouble with the law after a suspected methamphetamine lab was found at a local hotel Friday, and more suspected meth-related items were found elsewhere.

The City of Galesburg says their police officers, the Multi-County Drug Enforcement Group, and the State Police Tactical and Meth response teams executed a search warrant in a room at the America's Best Value Inn on the Public Square early Friday morning, though it's not clear exactly when.

There, city officials say nearly eight grams of meth and what they describe as items used in the sale of meth were believed to be found.

A second search warrant was later executed on a storage facility on East Tompkins Street, where the city says more meth materials were allegedly found.

Police arrested 29-year old Timothy Babbitt, who now faces preliminary charges of Aggravated Participation in Meth Manufacturing, Possession of Meth Precursors with Intent to Manufacture Meth, three-counts of Possession of Meth, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, and Transportation of Anhydrous Ammonia in an Unauthorized Container.

Babbitt is being held in the Knox County Jail pending a court appearance, which should happen sometime this weekend.
