Quinn Wants House to Pass Jobs Bill
Gov. Pat Quinn is urging members of Congress to pass jobs bill.

Members of the House are returning to Washington from their summer recess to quickly vote on the bill that Democrats say is crucial to the nation's well-being.

The unusual in-and-out session was called because the Senate waited until last Thursday to pass its $26 billion jobs bill. The legislation is designed to prevent tens of thousands of teachers and an equal number of other state and local government workers from losing their jobs.

Quinn says that bill means much needed dollars for schools across the state.

Meanwhile Congressman Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park) says he's inclined to vote for the bill. He calls the measure deficit neutral but adds that he still needs to read the fine print.
