Accused Shooter Pleads Not Guilty
The second person accused in a shooting several months ago in the area of the Knox College campus has pleaded not guilty.

18-year old Anthony Alfaro made the plea in Knox County Circuit Court Tuesday after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing.

Alfaro was arrested in July on a Knox County warrant charging him with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Poilce say he and 21-year old Xavier Parker were walking in the area of South Academy Street close to the Knox campus May 27th, when the two allegedly got into a confrontation with some people inside a sport utility vehicle.

Alfaro allegedly asked for a gun Parker had in his possession, and opened fire on the vehicle after it had left and came back to the area.

Parker pleaded guilty last week to a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and must spend six years in prison.

Alfaro remains jailed on $250,000 bond after, court records indicate, Judge Paul Mangieri denied a request to reduce that bond.

He'll next be in court September seventh for a pre-trial conference.
