Coke a Big Presence at IL State Fair
You''ll see new recycling containers on the state fairgrounds this year. Coca-Cola won a bid to have exclusive soda rights during the fair's run, and it's also providing more than 200 barrels for recycling plastic soda bottles.

Anthony Taylor, spokesman for Coca-Cola, says the barrels will make it easy to recycle. Coke will then compress the bottles into pallets, crushing 200-250 cases worth of bottles into one nearly three-foot cubed mass. Coke will also have one of its Recycling Education vehicles at the fair for two days. The vehicle offers games for kids, and a demonstration on the bottle recycling process.

Coke's contract with the state requires $10,000 upfront from the company, and the fair will give Coke three dollars per case and a dollar per gallon in soda sold. Coke then has exclusive rights to soda sales at the fairgrounds.
