Memorial to Work Zone Workers at Fair
It's not an accident; safety professionals and the police are trying to get you to pay more attention to safe driving in construction zones.

The Illinois State Fair this year includes the National Work Zone Memorial, a wall of about 800 names of people -- workers, drivers, passengers, police -- killed in work zones.

The wall is a project of the American Traffic Safety Services Association, a group of manufacturers of products used in road construction. Robert Haley, deputy director of the Illinois State Police, says work zone fatalities in Illinois so far this year have numbered 14, with last year's total 31.

The wall is on display in the Grandstand.
