Knox County Teen Dominates Again at IL State Fair
Sarah DeSchepper is doing it again.

The 17-year old Altona resident and soon-to-be-senior at ROWVA High School is again a winner at the Illinois State Fair, again showing the Grand Champion Lamb for the third time, and is also showing the Land of Lincoln Champion Lamb.

DeSchepper tells WGIL yes, the lambs have names, and yes, there's a method behind naming them.

"My Grand (Champion) lamb, his name is 'Rocky Top,' and the Grand Land of Lincoln lamb is named 'Rocky Top,'" DeSchepper said. "Every year I have a theme to name my lambs off of. And this year, the theme was song titles."

DeSchepper tells WGIL she's glad the two that won did, though she had a pretty good feeling about all her lambs this year.

"We just went off of what the judge liked," DeSchepper said.

DeSchepper's two lambs netted her almost $11,000 from the Sale of Champions Tuesday night at the State Fair.

Among other area winners so far, the Knox County 4-H says local beef exhibitors from Knox County received the "Neatest Beef Exhibit Award." And, Dylan Decker of Atkinson in Henry County has the grand champion barrow.
