"River 2 River" Cruise Returns Friday in Galesburg
What's grown to be a huge event full of classic cars and car lovers in just a short period of time will be back in downtown Galesburg starting Friday afternoon.

The annual "River 2 River" Car Cruise takes over most of Main Street from Seminary to West, and around the Public Square.

Retired Galesburg City Manager Gary Goddard is one of the organizers of the cruise, and tells WGIL the event starts at four, but road closures happen and the classic cars start coming in well before that.

"No parking after noon, and everybody has to remove their cars, of course," Goddard said. "And we'll have it all blocked off. Then, about 1:00, people start arriving with their vehicles."

Goddard says there should once again be room for about 1,000 cars -- some of which arrive after the cruse starts at four p-m simply because of the work day.

He says there will also be a 50-50 drawing, music and car commentary, food, and more.

Admission and participation in the River 2 River Car Cruise are free. For more information, CLICK HERE.
