Mud Slinging at State Fair
There's plenty of political talk at the Illinois State Fair, and a lot of it is negative.

State Senate President John Cullerton, noting Republican U. S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk – a congressman from Highland Park – told reporters he "misremembered" parts of his record, said there seems to be a lot of "misremembering" going on in the GOP.

He said State Senatoar Bill Brady, the Republican nominee for governor, wants Illinois to have a clean break from career politicians. Cullerton says Brady seems to have "misremembered" his 18 years in the General Assembly. Cullerton also jabbed, "Let's talk about Bill Brady’s legislative accomplishments … OK, we're done!"

As for the Republicans, Dan Proft – a candidate for governor during the primary and an emcee of his party day's activities – said the Democrats' U. S. Senate candidate, State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, has no business talking about ethics. Proft likened it to accused killer Drew Peterson giving a lecture on domestic violence. He also referred to Giannoulias as "Ali," which will produce controversy later in the campaign.

And State House Minority Leader Tom Cross said the Republicans must pick up only 12 seats in the House to gain a majority and take House Speaker Mike Madigan out of power.
