State Affair Attendance Numbers Look Promising
Numbers are nowhere close to final, but Illinois State Fair manager Amy Bliefnick says this year's attendance could surpass last year's attendance of 1854,794.

Bliefnick says this year's fair included several highs and lows. She says the highs were great agriculture programs, competitive contests, and the Selena Gomez concert Saturday night that nearly packed the house. But the lows were two canceled concerts, Lady Antebellum and Cheap Trick, canceled races, and a canceled demolition derby. But she says you can't control the weather, and that's why the fair has insurance to cover the costs of the acts.

Attendance dipped to 613,000 in 2007, which was the lowest since 1982.
