Rutherford for Treasurer? There's an App for That
If you're searching through iTunes looking for a new song or video, you might also find some politicians -- but not many.

State Sen. Dan Rutherford (R-Chenoa), who's running for state treasurer, is planning an announcement this week that his campaign as an "app." Rutherford says it makes sense, since he's already on Twitter and Facebook, and even announced his campaign via social media. "It's the next arrow in the quiver," he says.

Rutherford says the app consolidates the information that he's already putting out on other platforms. He says he's making sure that he doesn’t post too often, or too much, or is too serious. Rutherford often posts family recipes, his morning job mileage, and photos of wildlife near his home. He thinks people like to know more than political policy.

According to a Bloomburg article on i-campaigning, Rutherford is one of few candidates across the nation to have an app for the campaign.
