Congressman and Opponent React to Blagojevich Verdict
You don't often hear people of one political party say they're disappointed with someone in the same party, but that's been the case both before and after the Rod Blagojevich verdict.

Congressman Phil Hare is one of those. The Rock Island Democrat calls the convicted former governor "self-centered," with the biggest example of that being when he allegedly tried to tie a state grant for Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital to a campaign contribution.

Hare tells WGIL in a sense, he's ashamed that Blagojevich has a "D" next to his name.

"I'm thoroughly disappointed in him and to be honest I voted for him and looking back at my political voting, it's probably one of the worst votes I have ever made. So you can tell we're probably not going to be exchanging greeting cards this holiday season."

Hare says Blagojeivch is just like a badly behaved boy who just doesn't get it.

Hare's November election opponent, Quad Cities businessman Bobby Schilling, says political corruption will stop if you elect people like him in November. That's according to a statement from the campaign put out after the verdict.
