Second Search for Stacy Peterson in Galesburg
UPDATED 6:30pm 8/23/10 Add Galesburg to the list of places police have searched for the body of Stacy Peterson -- for the second time.

Sergeant Tom Burek of the Illinois State Police is spokesperson for the team investigating Peterson's disappearance three years ago.

Burek tells WGIL the same tip that led investigators to Peoria County in June lead them to Lake Storey in Galesburg Monday.

"We were there as a result of a lead we received some time ago and we were doing some follow up searching on that. We were assisted by the Galesburg Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources."

Burek says sonar was used and the Galesburg dive team helped look for possible findings. He said the lake was searched from about 9:00 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m., however, nothing of value was found.

Burek believes the search at Lake Storey is over for now but says the lead has not been totally exhausted.

Authorities searched in Knox County for Peterson August 3, in an area Burek would only describe then as "very close to Galesburg," and also found nothing.

23 year old Stacy Peterson was the fourth wife of former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson, who is on trial for murder charges of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
