Appointing an Illinois State Police Director
After 18 months, Illinois State Police acting director Jonathon Monken is still holding out hope that the state Senate will vote to confirm him. Governor Pat Quinn appointed Monken in March 2009.

It's still possible, however, that the Senate will take no action, and his appointment would automatically go into effect.

Governor Pat Quinn appointed Monken in the spring of 2009, and since the Senate has 60 session days, not 60 regular business days, to act on the move, Monken has been in limbo for a year and a half. Asked if he's OK with the wait, he laughed and said how he felt about it was irrelevant. Monken says his ability to keep the state police agency running during budget woes is the top reason the Senate should confirm him.
