Andy Martin, Constitution Party Among Those Kicked Off Ballot by State
The people wanting more than a two-party system in Illinois are getting only some of what they want. The State Board of Elections Friday upheld a challenge to the Constitution Party but rejected one against the Libertarians.

The board generally agreed the Libertarian Party had more than 25,000 valid signatures on its petitions, and the Constitution Party did not. The board's hearing officer reported three petition circulators for the Constitution Party lived at the same address and seemingly wrote the signatures at their kitchen table.

Another Constitution circulator, a homeless man, listed his residence as 433 W. Harrison St. in Chicago -- the main post office. John Fogarty, the lawyer for many of Friday's) petition challengers, says the problem is not that the man is homeless; it's that he should not be able to use the post office as a "home address."

Also removed from the November ballot was perennial candidate, gadfly, and litigant Andy Martin, who was running for U. S. Senate under the banner of the Reform Party of Illinois. Among Martin's problems: he already ran in the primary as a Republican, and his petition signatures fell short of the required 25,000. He submitted one signature.
