Mixed Unemployment Bag in Area
Unemployment numbers across most of the area continue their trend upward, but they're not up as much as they were last month.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the July jobless average for Knox County now stands at 9.8% -- up three-tenths of a percent from June.

The city of Galesburg's unemployment alone is also up and still over double-digits. It's now at 10.6% -- two-tenths a point higher from both last month, and this time last year.

With a Warren County unemployment rate that now stands at 8.9% -- up six-tenths, that puts the state's unemployment average for the Galesburg area at 9.6%.

The state's report says non-farm payroll jobs once again declined year-over-year, with about half of the 675 jobs lost coming from Professional-Business Services.

There are currently almost 2,600 out of work in Knox County -- another nearly 850 in Warren County.

While most area unemployment figures went up once again, two counties in the area did not. Stark County's unemployment actually dropped from 10.7%, to 10.3%.

McDonough County's jobless rate is down four-tenths from June, to 9.4%
