Funny Cakes at Knox County Fair
You never know what you are going to see at the Knox County Fair.

The fair is full of all kinds people, animals, contests, and attractions. While a carton of eggs might not seem all that unusual, it can sure grab your eye when it's made out of cake.

One entry in the novelty cake contest this year was a carton of eggs, some whole and some broken.

Sandy Wright is superintendent of the culinary contests. She tells WGIL trying to figure out what the cake was made was half the fun.

"It's very simple isn't it, just in an an egg carton. But it looks like it could be made with dry fruit where they broke it open. They might have made the white with almond bark, I'm wondering. They put it in the shell of that design and put the fruit in it and it looks like an egg yolk."

The cake, made by John DeSutter, took second place in the novelty cake category for 13 to 15 year olds.

Jordan Mckee received first place with a Knox County Fair cake complete with 3D frosting farm animals.
