Galesburg supports St. Jude again
Galesburg and its residents have been supporting a regional children's hospital for 25 years now, and organizers of a run stepping off this morning say they hope to make it the biggest run yet.

Galesburg was the first city to host a satellite run for the annual Memphis-to-Peoria run benefiting the Saint Jude Midwest Affiliate. Runners are gathered Saturday morning across from the WGIL studios to start their roughly 50-mile trek to Peoria raising money for tonight's Saint Jude Telethon.

Kim Shroeder will be among those who will be taking turns running, and tells W-G-I-L every dollar raised helps give kids the crucial medical care they may need but not otherwise be able to get.

Around 35 runners are expected to take part this year, along with 17 more who will be driving support vehicles that follow and provide aide to the runners.

The telethon tonight airs on Peoria television station W-E-E-K.
