More budget cuts for education
There are some further cuts Governor Pat Quinn's office recently announced to the state budget that will impact the Galesburg School District, while there are some that won't.

Galesburg School District Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill says the reimbursement rate for transportation is being cut again, so that instead of getting about three-quarters of what it spends on busing back, it goes down to a little more than half.

Cahill says the state has also cut hold harmless funding, but District 205 doesn't get any money for that anyway.

But, he says cuts to the Illinois State Board of Education's budget don't impact the district in terms of direct funding, services they provide to local school districts will certainly get hit.
