Minor Adjustments for Knoxville School District Budget
The Knoxville Board of Education Monday night approved a construction grant resolution for the high school's expansion plan and also announced a bid winner for the track asphalt upgrade.

But District Superintendent Steve Wilder also updated the district's budget. Wilder tells WGIL minor adjustments were made after the state delivered their own update.

"We were made aware by the state that our overall general state aid calculations had gone up a little bit, at the same time the state informed us it was going to be pro-rated at 95-percent, in other words cut by 5-percent," Wilder says. "We just discussed how I would handle that with the budget, which was actually not a whole lot of action on that because the general increase in state aid was pretty much offset by that 5-percent decrease."

Wilder says the online registration this year in the district has been a great success.

He says nearly half of the district's students registered online.

Wilder hopes to better the system for next year and says online registration may become mandatory.
