FIRST ON WGIL: President's Suprise Visit Impacts Galesburg
It wasn't on the public or media's agenda, but it sure was on the "To-do list" for the President of the United States.

But stopping at Galesburg High School wasn't completely out of left field after unplanned stops were made during the bus tour the previous two days.

For varsity volleyball player Emily Camper, cutting team pictures and practice short for President Obama's visit was unreal.

"We saw a whole bunch of police cars and a big bus drive by, one of the guys called and said it was the president," she says. "So we took our pictures real fast and sprinted out here."

President Obama took a team photo will the 12 girls, a moment that will forever be cherished by Camper.

"I kind of felt butterflies in my stomach, and I was real nervous. But when he looked at me and shook my hand he made me feel like I was important."

Camper and her teammates weren't the only ones feeling important. The GHS football and soccer teams also got to meet the President, along with others who quickly gathered on campus.
