Car Cruise Returns to Galesburg
You might once again just get a taste of what it might have looked like driving through downtown Galesburg in any of a number of decades.

That's because of the annual "River 2 River" Car Cruise which starts officially at four p-m Friday. Cars will line up along East Main Street in downtown Galesburg, though, starting in the lunch hour.

Organizer and former City Manager Gary Goddard tells the WGIL Morning News there may just be a certain big-name dignitary that will show up.

"We still are uncertain in Governor Quinn is coming or not, he said he's coming," he says. "But he is also saying don't count on it until I'm there, not so much on that short notice, but his week was somewhat interrupted by the presidential visit."

Quinn's public schedule for Friday doesn't list a visit to the River 2 River Car Cruise.

Nevertheless, though, Goddard says State Representative Don Moffitt will be there to talk about what he calls "very favorable" legislation for antique vehicle owners.

Admission to see the classic and modified cars is free, but refreshments will be available for sale.
