Local Farm Owner Concerned About Ability To Hire
The owner of the location in Alpha that hosted one of President Obama's two Illinois town hall meetings last week says immigration was one of the concerns he got to talk to the president about.

Bruce Curry says there were two issues he was concerned about: a lack of government programs to help specialty farmers in light of increased costs, but more importantly, the agricultural workforce.

Curry tells WGIL he'd like to see more migrant workers be able to work in the USA, if for no other reason than their strong work ethics.

"Immigrants are the kind of people that know how to work hard, they don;t mind being out in the sun, they don't mind working 50, 60 hours a week, they don't mind not taking a break," Curry says. "They go to church every Sunday, they teach their kids how to respect everybody, they are the exact kind of people that you wanted."

Curry says he has some people that work for him right now with great family backgrounds and some of the hardest-working people he knows, and always harvest his crops properly. And they're migrant workers.
