New Candidate For New Seat Stops In Galesburg
An Illinois House district now covers portions of Galesburg including part of Knox County. And Norine Hammond wants it.

Hammond is currently 94th District State Representative, replacing the late Rich Myers of Macomb. But under redistricting, Hammond's home would be in the 93rd District. And she's running so far unopposed for that seat.

Hammond campaigned in Galesburg Tuesday as she toured the new district, and says she realizes part of her district is currently part of State Representative Don Moffitt's district, but that's okay because of one key interest among others that the two lawmakers share.

"We try to look at is as what's good for our area, what's good for our region, what can we do to make things better for our constituency," she says. "Certainly agricultural is a huge part of that, not just in our area, but in the state of Illinois."

Hammond says should a judge rule the new map un-Constitutional, she'll just essentially start all over.

The primary election is next March.

State Representative Jil Tracy is running for the 94th District, and joined Hammond in Galesburg Tuesday.
