City Council Approves New Business Loan
Another new business is getting ready to be set up in Galesburg, thanks in part to a loan by the City.

The Galesburg City Council this week approved a 30-thousand dollar revolving loan to Jake and Jessica Glasnovich, so that Jake can open up an auto body repair business in the one-hundred block of Linwood Road. The loan will be coupled with a bank loan and other equity.

Jake Glasnovich told the City Council this week his reason for coming back to Galesburg after some time away is simple:

"We wanted to move back here because we are all originally from here, our family is from here," he says. "We had moved to Macomb for her to go to school and I got a job at body shop. I've been working there for 5 years, she's done with school and we thought it would be good idea to come back and support the growth of Galesburg."

Glasnovich, who will be the primary employee, says he wants to be the first auto body shop in town that's truly environmentally-friendly. He says he will use only water-based paints on all auto body work -- something he claims the other shops don't do.

City officials say before the 30-thousand dollar loan to the Glasnovich family, there is 214-thousand dollars remaining in the city's revolving loan funds.
